The Pub Landlord: One man, One Guvnor.
De Britse komiek en tv-persoonlijkheid Al Murray komt met zijn The Pub Landlord: One Man, One Guvnor Tour naar Antwerpen. Na een groot aantal succesvolle optredens in onder andere Engeland en Australië, maakt de stand-up comedian op maandag 20 april 2015 zijn opwachting in de Arenberg. Kaartverkoop start op vrijdag 7 november om 13 u.
Murray begon zijn carrière ruim twintig jaar geleden, toen hij besloot met comedians Harry Hill en Frank Skinner te gaan touren. Zijn talent viel al snel op, want in 1999 won Murray zijn eerste award voor beste comedy act op het Brits cultureel EdinburghFestival. In de jaren die volgden, zette Murray zijn eigen comedy act op waarmee hij in het voorprogramma stond van de internationaal geprezen Britse komiek Jim Tavaré.
Doorbraak met alter ego ‘The Pub Landlord’
Murray maakte pas echt faam toen hij optredens ging geven als zijn alter ego The Pub Landlord, waar hij ironisch genoeg mee begon op hetzelfde Edinburgh festival. Critici begonnen zijn talent op te merken, en inmiddels heeft hij het hart van het Britse publiek veroverd. Murray’s shows zijn in Engeland keer op keer uitverkocht en Britse media als The Observer en noemen hem vol lof ‘één van de grappigste acts in de Britse comedy’.
Als karakter The Pub Landlord schaamt Murray zich niet om in zijn show de spot te drijven met het publiek. Met zijn stereotyperende opmerkingen en afkeer van alles wat niet Engels is zorgt Murray voor hilarische situaties op het podium.
Tv-persoonlijkheid
Murray is naast comedian een tv-persoonlijkheid in Engeland. Hij treedt als zichzelf of als alterego The Pub Landlord op in talloze Britse televisieprogramma’s. Murray heeft daarnaast een aantal eigen series en sitcoms zoals Al Murray ́s Happy Hour, Time Gentlemen Please en Al Murray’s German Adventure waarin hij op unieke wijze zijn humor in sketches en gesprekken met gasten verwerkt.

The British comedian and TV-personality Al Murray is coming to Antwerp with his The Pub Landlord: One Man, One Guvnor Tour! After a series of successful gigs from Great Britain to Australia, the guvnor will host a night at his pub on Monday the 20th of April, at the Arenberg Theatre.
It all started 20 years ago for Murray, when he decided to go on tour with comedians Harry Hill and Frank Skinner. This proved to be more than a right choice, because in 1999 he already won his 1st award ‘Best Comedy Act’ at the Edinburgh Festival. In the years following, Murray would become the supporting act for the world famous British comedian Jim Tavaré.
Breakthrough at the pub
But the real breakthrough has been his alterego ‘The Pub Landlord’, which ironically was his first act at the Edinburg Festival back in the days. Critics began to warm up to his talent, and by now he has conquered many hearts of the British public. Murray fills theatre after theatre and British media like ‘The Observer’ called him “one of the funniest acts in British comedy”.
As his second self The Pub Landlord, Murray does not hesitate to mock his audience. His rather stereotypical remarks and disdain for everything non-English, inevitably lead to hilarious situations on-stage.
